Katie & Blake: Kansas City Wedding Photography

Katie was calmly finishing up the last minute details. There was this happy energy and all the girls around her were smiling as they busily did... things! pinning hair, applying lip stick, zipping dresses, closeups in the mirror, touching up nails... but everything stopped when the last button on Katie's dress was fastened. BREATHLESS! That's what happened. She was stunning as she smiled and we all held our breath. Of course the silent breathlessness didn't last long. Laughing, clapping and hugging quickly took over the room and everyone began busily doing things all over again!

The guys were getting ready at the other end of the church. I could hear them dramatically and sarcastically singing a Ben Folds song and playing an old and out of tune piano. Several jokes directed at Blake were made in hushed tones and in the blink of an eye the guys were ready. How do they do that? Blake is calm, discerning... and like... REALLY SMART. He doesn't have to say a lot and has nothing to prove to anyone. He loves and cares unconditionally and at the end of the night I knew without a doubt that he was a BEST friend to everyone around him.

It was such a day full of roller coaster emotions. Laughing, crying, talking about past times and getting excited for the fast approaching future! Everyone was there to see Katie and Blake, the beautiful couple, make a promise to love each other forever. And I have absolutely no doubt that is exactly what they'll do!

Katie and Blake, thank you for reminding me why I love my job so much! You guys are totally wonderful, beautiful and absolutely quirky in a very cool kind of way! Your wedding was one of the HAPPIEST I have ever been to and I will remember it forever!

Here are a few favorites from their wedding day...
The reception was held at Boulevard Brewing Co. http://www.blvdbeer.com/tours.htm
Flowers by the amazing Craig Sole of Craig Sole Designs: http://www.craigsoledesigns.com/
Photography by me! Duh, silly! ;)

Craig Sole does an amazing job and his creations are truly a work of art. I love the tulle netting he wrapped around the stems. It's such a beautiful finished look. I hope he won't mind that I stuck it into a door handle!
I LOVED Katie and Blakes color theme. This vintage yellow was paird with oranges and then she used gray as her secondary color which added sophistication.
Katie needed a hand... or two... (or three?) getting all those buttons fastened. Love the custom vintage jewelry the girls wore!
Katie and her awesome mom! Loved this moment :)
Craig Sole totally outdid himself with his classy presentation of the boutonnieres on a moss-covered silver platter. I wish I had a photo of Larissa and I photographing this platter. I had a wide lens on my camera and we were kneeling down in awkward positions with our faces towards the ground. People stopped by and gave us the strangest looks! An elderly woman asked, "what is it you're worshipping down there?" LOL!
Katie and Blake decided to see eachohter before the wedding. Her dad slowly walked her down the aisle to wait for Blake. He just wanted to stop and make one final check that Katie's beautiful gown was still looking perfect. ;) I can't blame him for stalling. Moments like this with the Father of the Bride and the Bride are so amazing and wonderful... and TEAR JERKING! Seriously Katie? I cried so much at your wedding. Thanks a LOT! ;)
Katie and Blake's first few moments together were tearful and intimate with bursts of laughter interrupting every few seconds.
GORGEOUS.
MARRIED! After the ceremony, we headed out downtown for some more photos with the wedding party!
I love this one. There's just something kind of timeless about it. OH, and the light was UH-MAZE-ING.
I'm sure you've seen this one on my header! It's one of my faves :)
Blake, you are one handsome groom!
SIGH. So in love. I love love. (Photographers: no actions on these ones! Just RAW processing! I'm telling you, the light was unbelievable and we were very lucky!)
Love this... the dress, the flowers, the light in Katie's veil.
Larissa got this shot of the guys!
FIERCE. Work it OUT laides!
You know me. Gotta have me some yummy detail shots! Do you not just ADORE her colors?
Beautiful :) These dresses were just perfect too!
Katie <3 Blake Forever. I told you so.
One hot wedding party!
I love this whimsical cake! So quirky-couture, you know? I love how the yellow flowers like the ones in the boutonnieres were also used on her cake!
First Dance :)
Katie and Blake danced the night away with all their close friends and family. Larissa and I ended up staying after hours to join the fabulously fun group of friendly people out on the dance floor! It was an absolute blast and as we walked back to our car I remember saying to myself... "what a perfect day". And it was :)
