Fawn and Scott: Engagement Photos in Lee's Summit + Scary car cables that electrocute batteries?!
Life doesn't always go as planned. Sometimes our plans are full of holes. Living without a plan can lead to disaster. But often times, the best treasured moments in life are the ones you haven't planned for. The fun surprises, the unexpected win, the spontaneous decisions that lead us to new heights, experiences, friends, romances and adventures. And deep down, I think we all know those kind of moments let us know we're alive, human, vulnerable and free. Life is a series of events that prompt us for instantaneous decisions and actions, and those moments of uncertainty - of the future or the consequences of our decision - shape and define not only the course of our lives, but who we are as people.
It was New Years Eve. I'm sure Fawn wasn't planning on being introduced to Scott. And I'm not even sure that Scott knew she existed yet. But as Destiny would have it, two mutual friends decided Fawn and Scott should definitely meet. And in that moment, -that spontaneous, unplanned moment, their lives began to intertwine in a new direction that would bring Scott to propose a year and 5 months later!
Fawn is a FABULOUS wedding and event planner (YES, weddings and events are precisely the kind of thing where you MUST have a plan unless you prefer traumatic chaos as your event theme!) with a mind full of creativity and thoughts of weddings, floral arrangements, coffee and sushi! A girl after my own heart! Ah. I love it!! Fawn runs KC Couture Event Co., ( http://www.kccouture.com/ ) a full-service event planning company! So of course, the wedding will be a DREAM and she and Scott could NOT be any more lovely and adorable! (Photos to come below soon! But I'm not done writing yet!) Scott is her perfect match -thoughtful, SMART, laid back and totally in love. He's going for the Justin Timberlake look at the wedding... complete with skinny tie! I'm incredibly honored and excited that they chose me to be their photographer.
INSIDE STORY: When we jumped out of the car to begin our shoot, I must have been so excited that I totally SPACED the fact that I needed to turn my headlights off. After we finished up, I got in my car to leave and planned on heading home for a quick dinner and shower before heading out for my Friday night plans. (A perfect example of a FAILED plan!) WELL. My car wouldn't start! I drained the battery! I was pretty embarrassed for being so forgetful, but FAWN AND SCOTT ARE SO AWESOME that they quickly began comforting me and proffering stories of their own forgetfulness. It was so nice to not feel so alone in my neglect! LOL
Scott, (being the manly man of helpfulness and problem solving!) got out the scary cable things that electrocute car batteries to make them work again (Does anyone else think there MUST be a better way or invention?! I mean, it looks so dangerous and what if you accidentally put it in the wrong place? Will you die? Ugh!) So it goes without saying that I was overwhelmed with gratefulness that Scott was there to face the scary electrocution cables!
After a while, it still wouldn't start. Fortunately, my parents lived about 2 streets over from the Longview Mansion where we were shooting and Fawn and Scott gave me a ride! I can't thank them enough for helping me out and for freaking out my little brother when we, a car of strangers, pulled into the driveway while he was playing basket ball! HA! Anyways, I made other arrangements and the car is now in perfect working order!
I know I write a lot on my blog posts... but this is a way for me to not only show people my recent photography work... but a way for me to document moments in my life for ME too. I promise I will NOT be offended if you don't read through an entire post!
AND since I've already written about everything from musings of life, wedding planning, scary car cables and freaking out my little brother...
I have finally run out of words to say and would rather share the amazingness that is Fawn and Scott in the form of pictures. Which speak for themselves far better than I could ever hope to ;)
I love this. And Fawn and I are the kind of people who look at a tree stump and see more than just a cut-down tree... "The endless possibilities! It could be a table for a perfect picnic! It could be a pedestal for a floral display! It could be a comfy couch with a few Anthropology cushions and Pier1 Pillows!..." I think you get the picture.
