it's blog time

Melissa and Jared have great chemistry... and a great "how we met" story, and a great "how he proposed" story, and will soon have a great "when we got married" story! Just a couple days ago, the three of us met to take photos of their love, style, personality, how they interact, etc. And I LOVED it. It's not easy work (trust me, Jared carried Melissa all over the forest, we ran across muddy fields, hiked down the street in 3-inch heels -well- Melissa did, anyways!) But I'm PRETTY CERTAIN it was worth it. We'll have to ask Jared to be sure!

Engagement photos are such a great way to have fun out on the town with the love of your life... and get some fabulous shots along the way! All of my wedding collections include the engagement session. This way, we can explore your style and personality and what you LOVE about you and yours! No one ever "feels" photogenic in the first few moments, but I promise, I'll guide you through and everyone ends up having so much fun as the session goes on! Here are a few of my favorite shots from Allison and Rich's engagement session at the Kansas City Plaza and Liberty Memorial!

"Do you photograph high school seniors?"... I get this question a lot! The answer is YES! FLASHBACK: I remember what it was like to be a Senior!...:) My family traveled so much in my younger years! I loved it. We were actually home schooled or tutored because of that fact, but we experienced so much! We had lived on the Gulf coast, in Illinois, Texas, and I was lucky to be able to travel to over 36 US States and see the most of our country before the age of 14. Eventually we moved to a Kansas City suburb my Sophomore year of HS.

I had such a great time with Tim and Asha! This post is a long time coming as they were one of my many October weddings!
I totally adore her color choices with their bouquets and dresses! Asha and Tim planned photo excursions all over Topeka! I think we snapped some awesome shots... here are a few of MY personal favorites...

Where do I start?! Zeke is a photographer himself, so I was a little nervous to photograph this wedding, to be REALLY honest! Zeke is the kind of guy who knows what he wants and passionately pursues his goals and dreams. He wasn't going to mess with fate, chance or destiny when he met his dream girl, Nichole. That long gorgeous hair, those big sultry eyes.... He knew what he wanted :) Months turned into a year.. or two.. or a few :) and in the fall of 2010, Zeke proposed to the LOVE OF HIS LIFE - NICHOLE :)

Vanessa and Chris are two of the most genuine and sweet people you will ever meet. When we first met, I really had an instant connection with them! Plus, they both have such an appreciation for photography and I loved that! OF COURSE ;)

Vanessa really catered her wedding around her guests and family and above all, wanted them to enjoy the celebration! It was an amazing experience which is why I wanted to share her wedding on this blog! I was thrilled to photograph this wedding last summer and can't believe I hadn't blogged it yet!

Lauren and Todd are a darling couple with great taste and a fabulous outlook on life. I was thrilled and honored to be a part of their happy and upbeat day as they celebrated with family and close friends. They chose two of my favorite locations in Kansas City and with her dream team of vendors (LOVE the designs by Blue Bouquet) planned and executed a gorgeous, elegant, fun and vibrant event. Matt & Allie's wedding day couldn't have been more perfect! I feel so lucky that Allie selected me as her wedding photographer and I am so happy for her! Her whole family showed us so much kindness and we even had our own place cards and seats among the guests at the reception! Everything about this wedding was a true reflection on Allie and Matt's love for one another and I'm thrilled to show you this fabulous wedding day from my perspective! Special thanks to my dad, Rand, for making this an EXTRA special occasion for me by being my second shooter :)

Ben & Sara are totally in love! Everything about this shoot is so THEM! I have known Sara since middle school, so seeing her so happy and in the arms of the LOVE OF HER LIFE was thrilling and made me smile... a lot.

Sara brought along Ben's letter jacket to show off her future new last name! Ben and Sara also sing, so it was totally necessary for Ben to serenade her - complete with his guitar!
